About The Moot

The K. K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court is held at the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi (India) every year.
This is the only exclusive International Criminal Law Moot Court held in India. Since 2005, the Competition has been held annually at the Campus Law Centre premises in memory of Late Sh. K. K. Luthra, Senior Advocate, an eminent criminal lawyer, whose legal career spanned from 1949 till his demise in 1997. The Competition was instituted and organized by Mrs. Nirmal Luthra and after her demise in January, 2020, the Nirmal Luthra Foundation, a charitable trust is continuing to hold the Moot in collaboration with and at the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.
Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases globally, the 17th and 18th editions of the Moot Court were held virtually. Due to a delay in the start of the session and examinations at the Campus Law Centre, the 19th and 20th editions of the Moot Court were held physically from 17th to 19th February, 2023 and 15th to 17th March, 2024 respectively.
Starting from the 21st edition, the Moot Court is being held in the month of February every year. The 21st edition of the Moot Court was held from 21st February to 23rd February, 2025.
The 22nd edition of the Moot Court will be held from 13th February to 15th February, 2026 at the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi
When it began in 2005, over 16 top institutions from all over India participated in the inaugural edition of the Moot. In 2009 the Moot went International and saw participation from over 40 institutions from India and overseas.
In the last 2 editions of the Moot 72 universities and law colleges have been shortlisted and participated each year. Due to the overwhelming registration of 155 and 127 teams as also large participation from International Universities and the excellent standard of memorials, the total number of qualifying teams has been increased from 60 to 72 from the 20th edition of the K.K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court in 2024.

The Moot focuses on topical criminal law issues with subjects ranging from Medical Negligence, Information Technology and Cybercrime, Terrorism, Technology and Online Bank Fraud, International Criminal Law and Genocide, Impeachment of Judges, Narcotics and related issues of criminal jurisprudence.
