About The Moot

The K. K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court is held at the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi (India) in the 3rd weekend of January every year.

However, due to the sudden resurgence in COVID-19 cases at the global level, the 17th and 18th editions of the Moot Court were held virtually and also, due to delay in the start of session at the Campus Law Centre, the 19th edition of the Moot Court was held physically from 17th to 19th February, 2023.

Due to examination at the Campus Law Centre, the 20th edition of the Moot Court will be held from 15th to 17th March, 2024.

This Competition is the only exclusive International Criminal Law Moot Court held in India. Since 2005, the Competition has been held annually at the Campus Law Centre premises in the memory of Late Sh. K. K. Luthra, Senior Advocate, an eminent criminal lawyer, whose legal career spanned from 1949 till his demise in 1997.  The Competition was instituted and organized by Mrs. Nirmal Luthra and after her demise in January, 2020, her family is continuing with the Competition. 

In 2005, over 16 top institutions from all over India participated in the inaugural edition of the Competition. In 2009 the Competition became International and saw participation from over 40 institutions.

The Competition has focused on topical legal issues and subjects ranging from medical negligence, information technology and cybercrime, unlawful activities and terrorism, online banking fraud, International Criminal Law and Genocide, Impeachment of Judges of the International Criminal Court, Narcotics, Trial by Media and Defence Entrapment and related issues in criminal jurisprudence.

The 20th Edition of the Competition is being held from 15th Mach, 2024 to 17th March, 2024 at the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
