The Rules 2006
RULES GOVERNING THE COMPETITION
1.K.K. Luthra Memorial All India Moot Court Competition will be held on the 20th to 22nd January 2006 at Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, Delhi – 110007.
2.Two team prizes, one prize for the best memorial and one individual prize for the best speaker will be awarded. All the participants will be awarded certificates of participation (two speakers and one researcher per team).
3.All the rules are only inclusive and not exhaustive for the Competition.
4.Rules should be strictly adhered to. Any deviation therefrom would attract disqualification.
5.Organizers shall resolve any contingencies and decide about any doubts or misunderstanding, the decision taken by the organizers shall be final.
6.Each team will have to argue once for the Petitioner and once for the Respondent.

7. Memorials
- Each team must submit four copies of the Written memorial for the Petitioner and four copies of Written memorial for the Respondent no later than 15th January 2005 to the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law Office. Memorials submitted after the said date would not be marked.
- Names of the participants or colleges or universities ought not to be mentioned anywhere on the memorial.
- It is the responsibility of the respective teams to ensure that the correct number of copies of the memorial are submitted to the organizers and acknowledgement obtained.
- All memorials submitted must confirm to the following general requirements and a team will attract negative marking for failure to keep within the limitation as described below :
- Memorials must be printed on A-4 paper with black ink.
- The font of the body of the memorial must be Times New Roman, Size 12.s
- Each page must have a margin of at least one-inch on all sides.
- The memorial should not exceed 25 typed pages and shall consist of the following parts :
- Cover Page – Coloured differently for Petitioner and Respondent. Blue Memorial – Petitioner, Red Memorial – Respondent
- Table of Contents
- Index of Authorities
- Statement of Jurisdiction
- Statement of Facts
- Statement of Issues
- Summary of Arguments
- Written Pleadings
- Prayer
8. Relevant Annexures may be attached to the memorial. However no team would be allowed to pass any material to the judges while presenting their oral arguments.
9. Oral Arguments :
- Court language shall be English
- Each team would be given 30 minutes to present their oral arguments, subject to a maximum of 20 minutes per Speaker. This shall include the pleadings and any rebuttal time, if applicable.
- Judges may, at their discretion, extend oral argument time upto a maximum of 10 minutes.
- Rebuttal would be allowed only to the Petitioner and they would have to specify in the beginning the time they want to set part for rebuttal.
10. Scoring Criteria :
- Memorial 20 marks
- Application of Facts and Evidence 15 marks
- Understanding of Law and Procedure 20 marks
- Use of Authorities and Precedents 05 marks
- Advocacy Skills, response to question and articulation 30 marks
- Court Etiquette 10 marks
11.If a team scheduled to take part in a round does not appear for 10 minutes after the scheduled start of the round, a walkover shall be declared.
12.Each team and team member shall assign a team code.
13. Participants shall use only their official numbers for identification purposes.
14.Scounting by any person should be brought to the notice of the organizers immediately, without disturbing the round in progress. Scounting would lead to disqualification of a team.
15.Any reference to identity, either during oral arguments or in the memorial may lead to disqualification.
